A Storm Lake man… arrested in November in connection with a lockdown at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge… has received a suspended sentence.
Eighteen-year-old Garhoth Dak of Storm Lake was initially charged with second-degree robbery. He pleaded guilty to the reduced charge of extortion… and was given a five-year suspended prison sentence and placed on probation for two years. A 750-dollar fine was also suspended. Dak was ordered to pay 420-dollars in court costs.
Dak and three others were accused of entering a campus dorm room on November tenth. Fort Dodge Police say a student reported the men in her room. The incident caused the Iowa Central campus to be placed on lockdown for several hours.
Court records indicate aiding and abetting second-degree robbery charges against 21-year-old Joseph Odir of Des Moines, 21-year-old Juma Deng of Urbandale, and 23-year-old Molong Deng of Des Moines were dismissed.
