BVU Science/Business Students Honored

Several area students among recipients.

Nine Buena Vista University science and business majors have been selected for the Clifford A. Rae Academic Award for the 2014 calendar year.
Fourth year science major student recipients include…John Bieber, a biology education major from Cherokee…and Breannah Krips, a biology education major from Havelock. Third year student recipients include…Lan Nguyen, a corporate mathematics, accounting, and business major from Storm Lake…and Miguel Rodriguez, a computer science, information technology track major from Storm Lake. Second year students recipients include…Michelle Clinesmith, a biology major from Lake View.
Business major students selected for the Academic Achievement Award include…fourth year recipients…Jonathan Lietz, an accounting and business major with financial decision-making concentration from Alta…and Nereyda Manriquez, an accounting and Spanish major from Storm Lake.
Third year student recipients include…Callie Hoffman, an accounting and business major with marketing concentration from Schaller…and Neil Marshall, an accounting and business major with sports management concentration from Alta. Second year student recipients include…Mai Chee Yang, an accounting and business major from Storm Lake.
The awards, which range up to five-thousand dollars, were created by a 750-thousand dollar endowment from the foundations established by Dr. Harold Walter Siebens, and named after the long-time advisor and counsel to Siebens and the foundations. The program is distributing 30-thousand dollars in awards this year.
