A Storm Lake man was sentenced to ten years in prison this week for violating his probation.
The Buena Vista County Attorney’s Office says 20-year-old Julius Blakeley was placed on probation in 2012 for three years after pleading guilty to two counts of lascivious acts with a child. Due to the nature of the crime, Blakeley was ordered to register for the Sex Offender Registry for remainder of his life.
As a term of his probation, Blakely was ordered to participate in an outpatient sex offender therapy program. He was unsuccessfully discharged from a sex offender treatment program in Sioux City in November for failure to comply with the program’s rules and expectations. Blakeley also tested positive and admitted to using marijuana while on probation.
This week, after hearing testimony, Judge John Duffy ruled nothing less than prison was warranted.
