2/4/15 Mitchell Charges Filed

Charges have been filed against an Alta man who led law enforcement on a pursuit that ended in the East Sac County Elementary School parking lot in Sac City last Thursday, January 29th.
The chase started after 25-year-old James Jacob Mitchell reportedly knocked on the door of a residence in rural Alta and requested help for a disabled vehicle. Mitchell then reportedly brandished a firearm on the individual that was attempting to provide assistance, and Mitchell stole the victim’s pickup truck. During the pursuit that followed, Mitchell drove at a speed of up to 81 miles-per-hour in a 55 mile-per-hour zone.
The Sac County Sheriff’s Office has charged Mitchell with carrying weapons without a permit, an aggravated misdemeanor…carrying weapons on school ground, a class D felony…eluding while participating in a felony, a class D felony…and reckless driving, a simple misdemeanor.
Mitchell is currently being held in the Buena Vista County Jail, and will make an appearance in Sac County in the near future.
