Pocahontas Area and East Sac County split Twin Lakes basketball double-header in Sac City. The #2 ranked in 3A Poky girls did not trail in their 66-50 win over East Sac, their second win this season over the Raiders. Faith Meyer led the way for the Indians with 22, including four 3’s, and Elle Ruffridge had 14. Jordan Fischer led East Sac with 12, as they drop to 9-8, and 5-4 in the Twin Lakes. Poky goes to 17-1, 8-1.
The East Sac boys built a big lead, and then held on late for a 57-48 win over Poky, avenging an earlier loss to the Indians. The Raiders never trailed, but Poky finished with 1st quarter strong to get tied 13-13. East Sac rolled in the 2nd quarter though, to go up 35-20, leading by as many as 17, and still led 49-36 going to the 4th quarter. The Indians chipped away down the stretch, but four points is as close as they came. Tyler Jacobsen had 21 in the 1st half, and finished with 24 for the Raiders, followed by Michael Halbur 12, and Cameron Wernimont 11. Tanner Youngberg led the Indians with 26, including five 3’s. East Sac improves to 7-9, 5-4 Twin Lakes, while Poky is now 12-5, 6-3.
