Both Remsen St. Mary’s teams never trailed in their victories over Storm Lake St. Mary’s.
In the boys game, Remsen SM led by as many as 21 in the 1st half, but the Panthers cut it to 43-28 at half. The Hawks built a 22 point lead going to the 4th quarter, but SLSM quickly scored 8 in a row. The Panthers, however, were unable to get any closer than that. SLSM was led by Josh Demers and Michael Demers each with 15, and Eric Broich had 14. Four Remsen St. Mary’s players scored in double figures, led by Jacob Wesselmann with 17. Remsen SM is now 11-6, and SLSM falls to 3-13.
The Remsen SM girls defeated SLSM 49-40. The Hawks led by as many as 23 during the 3rd quarter, as they connected on 10 threes. The Panthers did scored 11 straight at the end of the 3rd and into the 4th quarter to help narrow the gap. Katie Lenhart led SLSM with 12, and Mackenzie Laven and Riley Lenhart had 10. Remsen SM goes to 5-13, dropping SLSM to 3-14.
