Storm Lake House Fire

There was ten-thousand dollars damage in a house fire in Storm Lake Thursday evening.

Firefighters were dispatched shortly after seven p-m to 706 Vestal Street… where they saw a fire around a rear entryway. Fire fighters extinguished the fire and entered the residence, which was smoke filled, confirming no one was at home. Fire fighters did locate and rescue a small dog from a bedroom .

Fire, smoke, and water damage to the residence is estimated at ten-thousand dollars. Investigators from the fire department, Storm Lake Police Department and Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Office examined the scene Friday morning and determined the cause of the fire was electrical in nature. The home is owned by Liz Miller.

The fire department was on scene for two-and-three-quarters hours and was assisted by Storm Lake Police and Mid American Energy.
