The proposed reconstruction of East Tenth Street in Storm Lake will be re-bid after bids came in well above estimates.
The city council this week rejected both bids received. The low bid was 722-thousand dollars… while the engineer’s estimate was 583-thousand. Infrasturcture director Pat Kelly said the original plans included doing the work in three phases to allow access to property owners during paving. The project will be re-bid, doing the project in one phase, which is expected to lower the cost.
The estimate is now 605-thousand dollars… and includes some insulation for water lines that will be very shallow near the Oneida intersection. The project is expected to be re-bid on March 17th.
