Several area people will be inducted into the 2012 Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame during a ceremony scheduled for 1:30 p.m. August 19th during the Iowa State Fair.
This year’s Hall of Fame honoree from Buena Vista County is Jane Meyer... who for over 30 yeas has been involved with 4-H dog obedience training.
Bill Thompson was nominated by Sac County, a long time member of the Sac County 4-H Committee and instrumental in developing the Sac County Endowment Fund.
Steve and Jean Trimble were nominated to the hall of fame by Pocahontas County, both long-time 4-H supporters. Ida County has nominated Lois Spaulding, leader of the Maple Huskies 4-H Club for 21 years.
Mike Schoning of Clay County will be recognized for his many years of work on the sheep and beef committees in Clay County. The nominee from Cherokee County is Francis “Mickey” Conley, who took the 4-H Pledge for the first time as a young girl sometime in the 1940’s.
There will be 114 inductees this year. The program honors those people for their outstanding service and dedication to 4-H. Inductees will be presented a certificate by the Iowa 4-H Foundation. The Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame was initiated in 2002 to help commemorate the 100th anniversary of 4-H
