Preliminary autopsy results show a Storm Lake man who was pulled from the lake last Friday night may have died of a heart attack.
The Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Department says preliminary autopsy results indicate possible heart failure was the cause of the death of 64-year-old Steve McCullough of Storm Lake. The department says drowning was not a factor in the death.
After investigation and talking with witnesses, it was determined McCullough did not know how to swim and would not have jumped in the water. It was only seconds after witnesses heard the splash in the water they went to aid McCullough…and he was floating and unresponsive.
